How to get to Toyooka from the major urban centers
Toyooka is located about 2.5 hours, by train, from Kyoto City.
WELCOME TO TOYOOKA
Toyooka is located near the north shores of Hyogo prefecture, a few train stops from the Sea of Japan. The town has its own train station located along the San’in line of the Japan Railways system, this means that a JR pass can be used to reach Toyooka. You can also get here by car or bus just as easily and swiftly from Kyoto City, Osaka City, Kobe or Himeji.
Toyooka also has its own airport, Kounotori Tajima Airport, that has two flights a day between Itami Airport in Osaka.
GETTING TO TOYOOKA
BY PLANE
Kounotori Tajima Airport is located in Toyooka and is just a 15-minute bus ride from Toyooka Station and a 30-minute flight from Osaka.
From this local airport you can also easily and quickly travel to and from Tokyo in under 3 hours.
Two flights a day depart from Osaka’s Itami Airport for Kounotori Tajima Airport. A direct bus from the airport to Toyooka Station is scheduled to depart shortly after each flight’s arrival making transportation to central Toyooka smooth and convenient.

BY TRAIN
Toyooka has its own train station location on the JR San-in Main Line, called Toyooka Station. While there are no bullet trains that run directly to Toyooka, JR Limited Express trains are just as convenient for access from JR Kyoto, Osaka, Sannomiya, Himeji. (The HAMAKAZE limited express trains are operated on a limited basis, please check the timetables in advance.) There is a highway bus that offers quick, safe and affordable travel between Osaka – Toyooka, Kobe – Toyooka, and Kyoto - Toyooka. This bus is operated by Zentan Bus Company. Note: Kyoto routes are limited, it is recommended to take the train to Osaka and then take the bus from there.

With the extension of the highway nearing completion it is now faster to get to Toyooka by car. With a valid driver’s license from your home country combined with a valid international driving permit it is possible to rent a car here in Japan. Driving in the countryside is also comparably easier and less stressful than the city thanks to wider roads and fewer traffic.
